Welcome! Come on in...
I've made several trips to Urraco, Honduras beginning in 2005 and most recently April, 2011 as a "Brigade" member of Grace The Americas (formerly known as ProPapa Missions America).
These journeys have made such a huge impact on me that I wanted to share my experiences with you through my journals and photo galleries from the trips.
Also, if you find this information interesting and would like to do more than read about it, please consider helping Grace The Americas by becoming a Brigade member or perhaps sponsoring a Honduran child through school, so that he or she can receive a complete education.

Seventh Trip to Honduras with Grace The Americas (formerly known as ProPapa Missions America)
|
In April, I'll be going on my seventh mission trip to Urraco, Honduras with a small group of friends from New York, West Virginia and Pennsylvania. Our project for this year is to reconstruct a walking bridge across a river that was destroyed during Hurricane Felix in the fall of 2007. It's been reported that 2 kids have died while making an attempt to cross on a single cable that remains attached to both sides.
The total cost of the project is $7,000 of which $1,711 has already been donated by a church from Indiana, PA. I am asking for donations of any amount to help us reach our remaining goal of $5,289. Grace The Americas is a non-profit organization and your donation is completely tax deductible.

I received a letter from Jessica, whom I am sponsoring throughout all of her future schooling. It is so touching! It's in her own writing, and I've provided a translation by my niece, Amy.

After several weeks in Honduras, I'm glad to be back home. It was a wonderful trip although I battled constantly with the mosquitos. Hurricane Felix really did some damage and then a week later, several of the small villages were flooded again when the newly constructed levee broke from a heavy storm up in the mountains. I've included captions to explain each photo.

I'm Sponsoring a Child For Every Buyer or Seller!
|
I've decided that for every home I sell, I'll sponsor one child for one full year of schooling in Urraco on behalf of my Buyer or Seller. Please contact me for more details.
Please consider sponsoring one of these children... getting them a complete education is the only hope for improving living conditions in their country on a permanent basis.
Most Honduran children never make it past a third-grade-level education because they lack the resources to qualify them for school. Those of us who have the means to own computers and vehicles will never know that kind of lack, but we can help by extending hope to a child in a poverty-stricken area of Latin America. Where else can you get so much for so little?

Hi Everyone!
I found myself falling in love with all of the children I met.... It is just amazing, the feeling that I got from being involved so deeply in this project in Urraco with Grace The Americas (formerly known as ProPapa Missions.) I have tons of photos to show you all!
